Hornstrandir cross-country ski trip

The annual ski trip from Aðalvík to Hesteyri will take place on Good Friday, April 18, 2025. The trip will depart from Ísafjörður at 9 AM, and a boat will sail to Aðalvík where passengers will disembark along with a guide. The boat will then wait at Hesteyri, where light refreshments will be available for hungry skiers.  It is important that passengers have experience with cross-country skiing and are in good physical condition. Naturally, there are no marked trails in the area, so skiers must choose their equipment accordingly. It is also important to bring lunch for the day, as well as water or another beverage in bottles. Since there is snow in the area, it is not possible to refill water bottles once on site.  The hike itself is relatively easy, taking about four til five hours, with an elevation gain of around 270 meters.  A minimum of 8 passengers is required for this trip, and the trip is fully refundable if there are not enough participants. It is also important to keep in mind that the weather can be unpredictable at this time of year, so the weather will determine whether the trip goes ahead. If the trip has to be canceled due to weather conditions, it will, of course, be fully refunded.
